Following graduation of Dental School, Dr. Valerin served as a teaching assistant at The Ohio State University School of Dentistry, earning 2 teaching awards,,The Student Government Teaching Award and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity Clinical Instructor of the year. It was then he rediscovered an interest for hospital based advanced dentistry and teaching. This brought Dr. Valerin and his family to North Carolina where he served as Chief Resident at Carolinas Medical Center Department of Oral Medicine. During this time, he received the Lester Burket Award in the clinical category for his research on medications that affect bleeding after dental extractions during the Oral Medicine Symposium in Puerto Rico in 2005.
His post-doctoral training has taken him and his family to UNC College of Dentistry, Chapel Hill, North Carolina for advanced training in radiology, the Navy Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland for advanced training in facial pain and research at the National Institute of Health . He also received advanced training in hospital dentistry at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow, Scotland.
Once completing his post-doctoral training, Dr. Valerin and his family moved to Illinois where he served several years as a professor at the University of Illinois Dental School in Chicago. With Dr. Valerins hospital training and knowledge this has given him an edge to provide the best in comprehensive dentistry for the entire family as well as the safest methods in sedation dentistry for those with dental anxiety. He has now enjoyed private practice for over 18 years. He loves the relationships he has built with his patients and their families through private practice and his community.
The decision to relocate to Peoria, Illinois was greatly influenced by the fact that his family has better access to health care for his daughter as well as allowing him the opportunity to continue his teaching career part time while enjoying private practice. Dr. Valerin is a current faculty member at OSF Saint Francis General Practice Residency Program for General Dentists. He is excited to have the opportunity to pass along the knowledge he has gathered over the years spent at a Level 1 trauma center during his training career as well as his experience providing comprehensive dentistry through private practice.
Dr. Valerin volunteers with his wife for the Illinois Mission of Mercy program providing free dental care to thousands in need and plans to continue this tradition, he was part of a missionary team providing dental care to under developed villages internationally, he volunteers for Dental Lifeline of Illinois and has volunteered for the LaSalle County Health Department, American Red Cross, Give Kids a Smile Day and so much more within his community. He is an active member in the Peoria District Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Association, serves as President for the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, a Certified BLS Instructor through the American Heart Association, received the latest up to date training on OSHA/ HIPPA regulations and participates regularly in continuing education courses nationwide. Dr. Valerin and his wife, Kristy, have three children. They enjoy the outdoors, traveling, deep sea fishing, Ohio State football games, golf and sailing. Dr Valerin has crewed on multiple offshore sail races including the Newport to Bermuda race and the Caribbean 500. However, any time spent enjoying friends and family are the best!

My name is Amanda, I joined the Valerin Dental family in August 2014. I immediately felt at home with Dr. Valerin and the entire team. I was thrilled to become an employee and an official part of the family. I love giving the patients a great experience. I have the privilege of being a treatment coordinator and also a patient of Dr. Valerin myself. I love the fun upbeat atmosphere of our office. I have found a home at Valerin Dental. It is an honor to welcome patients into this environment everyday! I live in Washington IL. With my husband Couri and our 3 children Darius, Aaliyah and Amiyah. In my free time I enjoy watching baseball, shopping and vacationing at the beach!

Deanne
Dental Hygienist
Deanne has been a dental hygenist for 31 years. She has worked along side Dr. Valerin for 16 of those years. Over the span of her career, she has excelled with her periodontal skills and provides training to fellow hygienists on those skills. She enjoys learning new skills, techniques, and procedures to make our patients dental experience the best it can be. Her goal for each patient is to educate and treat each patient based upon each individual’s needs. She specializes in thorough but gentle treatment and to keep you comfortable during your visit. Deanne goes above and beyond for those who have dental phobias, fears, and anxiety. Helping those to overcome these concerns, so they can develop trust again in the dental world.
Outside of the office, Deanne has been married to her husband Grant for 26 years. They have 3 children and a dog named Lola. She enjoys her outdoor gardens and fish pond. She’s crafty with a hot glue gun and enjoys home renovation projects with her husband as well. Her life mantra is, "It Is What It Is!"
Tie
Dental Hygienist
Tie graduated from ICC and has been a dental hygienist since 2016. She loves being able to get to know each patient and provide treatment specific to their needs. Tie has been with her husband, Jake, for 11 years. They have a daughter named Lumen who was born January 2024. They also have 2 dogs named Chalice and Lady. Tie enjoys reading and spending time outside with family and friends.

Erin attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL for her dental hygiene education. She is the newest addition to the Valerin Dental family and is excited to be a part of a team made up of dedicated dental professionals. Erin strives to provide patients with a relaxed dental experience and give them the tools to improve their oral health and smiles! She resides in Canton, IL and enjoys reading, going to concerts, shopping and spending time with family and friends!

Assistant
Alex studied Dental Assisting at Midwest Technical Institute. She has been a dental assistant since 2011 and has been with Valerin Dental since 2016. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Andrew. They have a son, Stanley and a golden retriever named Howie. In her free time, Alex enjoys browsing thrift/antique stores, baking, watching The Golden Girls and spending time with family.
Meagan
Assistant
In 2018 Meagan graduated from Illinois Valley Community College with an associate‘s in science degree and a Dental Assisting with expanded functions certificate. Later that year she began working as a dental assistant at Valerin Dental. When she’s not at work, Meagan enjoys doing arts and crafts as well as spending time with friends and family. She has two cats named Pancakes and Glen.
